Jesus Is The Way Prison Ministries

It's been a while since the first mission column I wrote, but I'm back, and the first ministry I chose to spotlight was "Jesus is the Way Prison Ministries." This ministry was founded by the late Jesse Mathes.(For those of you who don't know, Jesse was the grandfather of two of our very own solid rockers - Chelsea and Miranda Pruitt. Jesse was a great person, and he is greatly missed. Not only by "Jesus is the Way" but also by his family and by his friends at Living Word Fellowship

God has been faithful though, and has brought the ministry a new president, Peter Schneider. We are confident he will be blessed by God to continue this ministry and do all that God has in store for this ministry.

"Jesus is the Way Prison Ministries" is a local ministry that Living Word Fellowship has supported for a long time. The ministry reaches out to the prisoner's by sending in representatives to the prisons to share God's love and His salvation. The ministry also extends hope to the families of the prisoner's by sharing His peace and joy with them, too.

One way that 'Jesus is the Way" shows the love of God to the families of the prisoner's is through the Christmas tree that we recently had set up in our front lobby. The tree had tags with age groups on it, and people from our church would take a tag, buy a gift, and bring it back to the church. After all the gifts are collected, they are wrapped and handed out to the children.

If you weren't able to get involved that way (or even if you were) there is always some way you CAN get involved. It's called prayer. Prayer is the most important thing you can do for any ministry. Some things you can pray for are there needs. Just like any ministry, 'Jesus is the Way" has needs. In the ministry's latest newsletter, four needs were mentioned: Color copier for offices, Washer/ gas dryer, one refrigerator, and one chest freezer. God is big enough to supply their needs, so agree with them that they will receive what they are believing for.

And, as always, you can pray for the prisoner's and their families. Pray for their lives to be touched and transformed.

God is doing great things in "Jesus is the Way Prison Ministries", and I want to be a part of it. How about you?
