Our Vision At Solid Rock

  • To see Solid Rock as a ministry called alongside parents to help teach & exhort youth to live according to Biblical standards.
  • To see Solid Rock become a sanctuary or safe place for young people who want more of God and want to express their love for Him.
  • To see Solid Rock members become a significant force for change in the community and the schools they represent.
  • To see Solid Rock become a source of growth for the Church. To see individual students become mature believers, involved & serving both within and outside the church.

The Power of Words: God's Workmanship Under Attack

Remember what you said last week? Last week we each prayed and God was showing us that we are His workmanship

Ephesians 2:10 – you are God’s workmanship

How many times since last week have you made a negative confession or statement about yourself?

Maybe you said:
  1. I can’t do this
  2. I’m not smart enough
  3. Nobody likes me
  4. I wish I was dead
  5. I’ll never amount to anything
  6. There’s nothing special about me
  7. etc. etc. etc.

When we say these things about God’s workmanship, His masterpiece we’re simply taking the devil’s side.
We’re agreeing in our hearts that these things are true

Read from “Walking with God”
by John Eldredge p.39

The untamable tongue James 3:3-12
The devil knows how powerful our words are, that’s why he wants us to speak against God and His workmanship

Proverbs 13:3 – guard your mouth (also in msg)
Proverbs 21:23 – guard your mouth
Matthew 12:34-37 – out of the abundance of the heart, words are powerful (msg)
Proverbs 18:21 – Death and life are in the power of the tongue (read note on v. 21) / (also in msg) you choose!
Psalm 19:14 – Let my words be acceptable
James 1:19 – quick to hear and slow to speak

Before you trash God’s workmanship, consider the fruit of your words
Will they accomplish the work of the devil? Are you agreeing with the enemy concerning yourself?
Or, will your words serve God’s purpose and produce good fruit in your life?

Quick Steps to Check Your Words:

  • Is what I’m about to say agreeing with God or the devil?
  • Have I thought through what I’m about to say?
  • If I say what I’m about to say will it bare good fruit or be a poison?
  • Have I given this thought over to God?

Take some time to look through God’s Word and see what He has to say about you.
